SPRATTY SAYS 07-04-2007

The calendar keeps ticking over, what happened to summer? As if the remind us of the change in seasons there has been a noticeable nip in the air for the last week or so, but the days are extremely civilised.

Down at the Ponderosa the horticultural renaissance continues, I’m actually enjoying getting my hands dirty, and watching the garden grow... but don’t tell Mrs Spratty.  Also on the home front we have inherited a cockatiel from the Big One. It’s like we have had another child, this bird is fast becoming the most pampered item of fluffy fauna in or out of a cage. When I die, I did want to come back as my neighbour’s golf clubs, but I tell you this bird is starting to rule the roost at the Ponderosa and could be the go.

The Redmen took on a depleted Dorrigo outfit last Saturday at Rugby Park, and while the game itself was a one sided affair, the boys showed they have every intention to successfully defend their title this year with a polished display of running Rugby. The under 19’s had a hit out against a lower grade side and again while a one sided and slightly comical affair showed that they have plenty to offer this season and will be well worth getting along to watch.

The big day for Grafton is next Saturday with First and Second grade taking on Tweed Heads, with under 19’s kicking off proceedings at 1:00PM. A combination of fantastic weather and very watchable early season form should conspire to create an excellent afternoon of footy, what a great way to start the season.

On the workfront, we are pretty proud to see Dean Broomhall manning the NRMA roadside truck. He seemed to be the perennial apprentice around the place, who along with Shaun Sidorenko and Nathan Monkhouse are rapidly becoming the engine room of the Mighty River Service department, well done fellas!

Also on the workfront, the exports continue, to the Sydney area in particular, although we are pleased to report a strong local content this week. Rob Connell is cutting a swathe through the last of the runout Ford Couriers and Hyundai Terracans in particular, with Ford Focus and Hyundai Elantra also strong. The 5 door Getz for $12990 also looks like plenty of value.

Don’t forget to pop in and check out our used specials, Brad has got some absolute rippers in at the moment. Better still, check out our website www.mightyriver.com.au

Finally Easter is a pretty special time of the year, as it qualifies for double demerit points, seriously please drive carefully and be nice to each other.

Happy Motoring,

Spratty
