SPRATTY SAYS 21-04-2007

Climate change? No thanks; I’m very happy with my warm sunny days, slight chill in the evening with a chance of showers. A very high player comfort level more than offsets fairly unimaginative weather reports.

Also on climate change is the talk of damming and pumping water from the Clarence. Now whilst I’m as green as the next bloke, there could be something to be said for the water business. Firstly would I swap water for hospitals? Absolutely! A new bridge? Probably. It will be a cold day in hell before Macquarie Street money finds us, at least 4 years I reckon. Also, I’m no engineer but wouldn’t a dam also provide some kind of certainty in respect of flood mitigation? Let’s by all means put a high price on our water, but let’s make sure we don’t toss the baby out with it.

Meanwhile at the Ponderosa, CC girl has been winging her way through the school holidays by doggedly maintaining contact with 230 odd close personal friends and becoming the world leading authority on the TV show OC. While we love having her at home we are looking forward to the commencement of a stretch of ‘parent free days’.

Also at the Ponderosa ‘mulchgate’ came and went. Some idiot brought home the wrong mulch, tried to pass it off as the same stuff only better and cheaper, someone else with a horticultural half a brain wanted to do the job properly, eventually I took it back and swapped it.

Ah the Mighty Redmen, how good were they! Great to see some guys make the step up to First grade in style, better to see terrific discipline with few penalties surrendered, but best of all, a second grade return to the kind of form that got us to the grand final in 2005. Today it’s a grand final replay in first grade, a tough test in Second grade and a joust with last year’s premiers in u19s. It is all happening at Casino, and will be well worth the run north.

On the work front our inventory has undergone a renaissance of sorts in recent weeks. With a lot of stock coming and going, the bottom line is some great stock in used cars, and some terrific specials in new cars. So call in and watch us spin your wheels!

Also on the work front, don’t forget to see us if you are thinking of a gas conversion. We are among the cheapest parts of the country to fit gas. In Victoria they are $4000 take it or leave it. Call into our Victoria Street service centre for a chat.

Finally our thoughts and best wishes are with the Connell family, Rob and Leesa, who have acquired the wherewithal to supply a sibling to their son Nicholas. There does seem to be an inordinate amount of baby action in this part of the world. Perhaps our city cousins are too busy running around like lunatics to stop and read the owners manual.

Happy Motoring,

Spratty
