SPRATTY SAYS 9-12-2006

NOW there’s only 15 sleeps to go 'til Santa comes, soon Mrs Spratty will have problems putting me down I’ll be so anxious. Meanwhile that special Christmassy feel is really starting to kick in around town. It really is a wonderful time of the year. Don’t forget to call into the Mighty River gift shop for something special. Fresh stocks of Wallaby gear has just arrived, along with everything Ford or what about something from the Redman off season clearance selection?

This week marks a couple of milestones in my world; believe it or not ,this is the 75th ‘Spratty says’, no wonder they must be starting to look the same, it also says a lot for an extremely tolerant approach to freedom of the press! This week also marks the first anniversary of my womenfolk moving to the Clarence. Despite a few initial jitters I got used to having them around, and in spite of me, they look pretty settled these days.

My deal with CC girl that if she didn’t make one friend in a year she could go back to Sydney looks pretty safe, at last count her close ‘chat’ friends numbered 154, and heading north. Pretty big news is Mrs Spratty helping out at Mighty River, nice to know the whole Mighty River thing is more than just another worrying aspect to my protracted and ongoing mid-life crisis. Even though she probably won’t admit it, Mrs Spratty is also enjoying having her mum close at hand.

With so much going on lately I haven’t had a chance to share some of our recent export adventures. The most notable was we finally landed a car into the Northern  Territory, a bloke from near Darwin took advantage of some super cheap new Ford Explorers we had and grabbed one telling us proudly it will be the pride of the fleet DOWN A MINE, he expects to ruin it in a year or so and be back for another, sometimes fact is stranger than fiction.

Some of you may have noticed the wild looking Orange beast out the front over the past couple of weeks, sadly it leaves the Valley this weekend bound for a new home in Sydney, a fella had been waiting 6 months for a new one, got sick of waiting so he grabbed the only used XR5 in Australia, I guess it’s staying in NSW at least.

Also on the export front a family at Barradine near Coonabarrabran found their new people mover in Grafton. Prominent local identity and slightly shrunk ex-pimpernel, Wayne Magann did the honours with a timely and silky smooth delivery. Thanks Wayne.

Finally and FINALLY we are up and running with LPG conversions with plenty of spots available before Christmas. The first couple have gone through like clockwork, with $2000 up for grabs from the ‘John Howard gives me gas’ program, it’s still definitely worth looking at.

Happy motoring,

Spratty

PS Please take it easy on the roads over the Christmas period.
