SPRATTY SAYS 15th December 2007

How tropical is the weather? If it continues I might have to change the Ponderosa to Bali Hai and introduce grass skirts and lais at Mighty River..now there's a novel look!

On the homefront CC girl has taken the multi media concept to a new level. In an effort few would have thought possible, homework is now completed while chatting to 350 odd close personal friends and watching television. All sandwiched between a rising tsunami of social events culminating in rest spells in her toxic used clothing depot. Just keeping track is exhausting.

We are right into what Mrs Spratty somewhat cynically calls the 'she'll be right' season. The kids run a little feral this time of the year  ..but ..they'll be right, we are all a little busy for the oldies..but..they'll be right. In fact most things right now can wait until after Christmas..because you guessed it..she'll be right.

The penultimate example of 'she'll be right' is sighted on the side of the road looking to retrieve stuff that's fallen off a poorly secured load, waiting for an overheated car to cool down or more often than not on a hook on it's way to a workshop. Modern motoring is becoming fool proof..almost. When she sights a victim on the side of the road Mrs Spratty loves nothing more than a little tut tut followed by a 'she'll be right' with feeling.

I thought the race I had with my boat down the Pacific Highway a few years ago was a whopper in a class of it's own. However there has been a few entries in the 'she'll be right' hall of fame in recent days that beggar belief. Without wishing to embarrass the owners, people have another look, and if you stop look again and if you hear funny noises coming from your car you shouldn't keep driving until the car stops..possibly for good. 'She'll be right' can be awkward, inconvenient and very expensive.

This time of the year the Pacific Highway in particular becomes another 'Mighty River'.For reasons I can only assume to be political but best known to themselves RTA ramps up road works, adding to the plethora of speed limit changes along with stress, fatigue, inclement weather, inexperience and excess traffic on the roads which are sub-standard to begin with and of course necessitating an enhanced Police presence, all providing a volatile cocktail.

It's one thing to knock your car about, but go easy on yourselves, please be careful out there. If you are not sure get it looked at.

On the workfront  the internet continues to be our best salesperson with families from the Central Coast, Camden, St Leonards, Gold Coast, Inverell and Pymble all finding their next car at Grafton. You can't beat
quality, variety, value and service..it helps enormously to be available to assist 7 days a week.

Happy (and safe) Motoring
