SPRATTY SAYS 03-02-2007
Welcome to February and the last bit of summer. More importantly our youngsters have resumed their climb up the greasy parabolic curve of education. I should say my last couple of years at school were the best 10 years of my life, but seriously us oldies need to mask the relief, the jubilation around town during the week really was getting out of hand and a little more enthusiasm from our academic acolytes at getting another crack at Pythagorus, Euclid, pye and all those other blokes with funny names, wouldn’t go astray either…and sit up straight and pay attention!
The Big One has needed a fridge for a bit and has been leaning on Mrs Spratty and I to stump up for one. Thinking I would avoid the cost as well as the effort at getting a fridge up to her second floor eyrie down at Coffs I put her onto a used fridge man last weekend. Unfortunately I forgot to tell her that fridges get heavier as they get older and cheaper, needless to say she got a real cheapie. My plan backfired totally, as I spent an afternoon getting closely acquainted with the fridge man and my daughter’s stairwell. Memo: vast improvements required in the ineptitude department.
I made my debut at Redmen training during the week, and let me just say the mind was willing but the old bod really struggled. Mrs Spratty reckons a little maturity would be a whole heap less painful. Seriously the guys are to becommended for keeping themselves in shape over the summer and for the effort going in at this stage of the year. It augers well for the long months ahead.
On football, our resident leaguie Mr Tom Freebody, the impact of enjoying an off season being spoiled rotten by Mother Theresa in Grafton was beginning to ‘show’. The positive impact of a return to training has got the spare tyre down to a space saver and heading south.
Also on the workfront a big thanks to Messrs Magann for dropping the car to Townsville for us. Not a sale unfortunately, but still it doesn’t happen every day. Although on exports, the activity level is still high with a few going to Sydney recently. In the next day or so we have a bloke who works as a courier in Sydney coming up to check out a gas Falcon Ute, I’ll keep you posted on that one.
On gas don’t forget to call in and see us for a chat about the heavily subsidised conversions on offer at the moment. We have plenty of kits in stock and Fiona Harris is taking bookings with nominal waiting times only.
Finally keep an eye out among the specials from Ford and Hyundai for a scoop purchase of the last remaining stock of runout 4x4 couriers, petrol only in Super cab with suicide doors and dual cab, but cheap as chips. See Rob Connell for details.
Happy motoring,
Spratty
