SPRATTY SAYS 10-02-2007
The school year has already settled into the routine of homework (or lack thereof), sports days and cash hand outs for stuff that apparently WAS discussed and/or I WAS told about. How come these little surprises always leave me on the receiving end?
After much agonising ‘The Linda Gaye’ is being sold. It’s not just that Mrs Spratty can be a ‘Toy Nazi’, Im just not using it,so some other kid should get a turn with it. Ive got some ideas on the Linda Gaye II, I’ll keep you posted.
On Thursday night after my weekly flogging at Golf at the hands of my accountant, you know, there really is something sad about that.. Anyway.. I decided to do the biathlon and play Poker at the Golf Club. This Texas Poker is really catching on, with a full house, so to speak, turning up each week to have a crack. Let me tell you they take it pretty seriously. Although they were very gracious when I spilt beer on the table, I could tell they were seething, I think they actually thought it was a ploy to unsettle them, I didn’t spill that much and so what if I didn’t wipe my chips. Thankfully for all concerned my remaining chips disappeared on cue and so did I, but let me tell you I will be back, and not just because it’s free either.
Last week I told you about a courier from Sydney who was interested in a Gas powered Falcon Ute. I met him at Coffs airport last Sunday and organised an extended test drive for him. In the meantime some folks from Port Macquarie were interested in the car the Big One was driving. So they came while courier man was out in the ute, I had to kick the Big One out for a while and turn her kitchen into a sales office. The extended family from Port turned out to be lovely people and were as pleased as punch with the car for the young bloke. The bloke from Sydney was a bit tougher, after a day out, he went home to think about it, but gave us the thumbs up after a little toing and froing on Tuesday. I had to buy the Big One a feed to square up but she didn’t mind, it was nice at the beach anyway.
Workwise the big news this week is the departure of our Service Manager Brian Baxter, for health reasons Brian is having a break. While it will be sad to see Brian leave, local lad Graham Mackay has his hand up for a crack at the big chair, and we are confidant he will slot in nicely.
Also work related, our foreman Justin Boon recently was awarded the prestigious title of Master Technician for Ford, it was a tough hill to climb, but worth the effort. I have combed the records and cannot see Grafton ever having had one before and he is one of three in Northern NSW. It would be nice to know your Ford is in extremely capable hands.
Happy motoring,
