SPRATTY SAYS 29th February 2008Finally some blue sky! It's good to give the windscreen wipers a break, but my plethora of excuses is also drying out. While I would rather train in knee high grass than ankle deep mud, I was getting a little too used to battening down the hatches early. The OH & S issues that have kept me from doing anything useful in recent times are also drying out, in fact there is an excellent chance my neighbours will be amazed and appalled in equal measure, with my attempts to salvage some domestic pride in the coming weeks. Haven’t seen much of my kids in recent weeks, the Big One or Series I, appears occasionally to rearm and refuel, put dibs on stuff she likes and offer them for sale back to us upon redundancy, a new slant on the sale or return concept. CC Girl or Series II, continues to crisscross the Valley at bewildering speed, with her IT hub almost at melt down at critical times. I still have difficulty at times equating the top of a kids head in the back of the car and their address, my apologies for any incorrect deliveries, but I am getting better. The other thing I am slowly getting my head around is the habit of referring to both peers and teachers by surname only, especially in abbreviated conversations conducted at warp speed. At one stage I thought her maths teacher and a girl from Coutts were the same person. On the workfront things are pretty hectic here at Mighty River. With the Falcon runout generating plenty of sales activity, we particularly seem to have hit a chord among Falcon Ute buyers who have twigged to the terrific deals Rob and the team are putting together. Mrs Spratty and I were in Melbourne last weekend for the launch of the new Falcon range. I was pretty impressed, mainly with the car but also with the hospitality, thankfully I had Mrs Spratty with me to maintain decorum and credibility as I met the new big boss at Ford, she correctly pointed out to me that just because he’s an African American I shouldn’t quiz him on Jazz and basketball or add the word ‘man’ into my speech. The hugely popular i30 continues to amaze with the arrival of the automatic diesel variant, Rob Connell has scooped the pool with these with no less than 4 of these hard to get models in Grafton and ready to tease a petrol bowser near you. Also on Hyundai the new range of vans and people movers have arrived, benefiting from Hyundai’s massive improvements in quality and safety, they take their styling cues from Volkswagen, available in both petrol and diesel, are sure to be a huge hit. Exports of cars and caravans continue to find homes all over the place with families from Gold coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Central Coast and Darwin!!, all finding something to add to their lifestyle from Mighty River.
