SPRATTY SAYS 27-01-2007
We finally got a blast of Summer during the week with the mercury getting a workout after a fairly mild season to date. Far from being unwelcome, the warm spell relieved concerns of climate change and all that, almost a return to normal for this time of the year.
There has been a little discussion of development at Maclean during the week. No doubt plenty of brain cells will be killed in the quest for the right choice moving forward for the town. The only comment I will make is that I sincerely hope that Maclean potential is realised. It is ideally located is a terrific precinct and deserves to be developed in sympathy with its environment and long history. I will be watching the progress of the debate with great interest.
The other debate gathering momentum is water. I was on the Central Coast on the weekend, where my mother wants me to bring her prized plants to the ‘safety’ of the Clarence. They are on level 5 restrictions, what exactly that means I’m not sure.. no schooners, middies only?
What it means to us on the Clarence where thousands of litres a second are flowing out to sea, is that in all probability the decision will be out of our hands. Naturally I hope it just rains and all this nastiness goes away, but a drought in an election year will keep it on the agenda,. Regardless of the outcome it will get interesting.
On the homefront it seems CC girl has discovered she has an assignment of some description due upon return to school, I know this because the dining room at home has been turned into a vaguely educational looking toxic waste dump. Just like her room but with more bits of cardboard, scissors glue and stuff. Mrs Spratty has been working hard and has got the Ponderosa looking pretty good otherwise; I guess my work there is done so I can concentrate on emptying the Pacific and my quest for a hole in one.
Couldn’t make it to Rugby training this week (NB MR Powell)..but had a good excuse for Friday. it wasn’t on! but my spies tell me the boys have looked after themselves over summer and have turned up in pretty good order ..those that deign to participate in pre-season training. Sounds like my big comeback might have to wait another year.
Finally, with so much happening it’s hard to think about work, but it does pay the bills. Newsworthy was the delivery by Tom Gerard to Cobar via Dubbo, without the excitement experienced during our last delivery in that part of the world. A couple of cars into Sydney and Wollongong and a few to Coffs and Ballina. The deals just keep coming.
Call into Fitzroy Street and see why we are the Valley’s Number 1 for used cars and pretty nifty at new ones too!
Happy motoring,
Spratty
