SPRATTY SAYS 21st July 2007Well, if you thought it was nippy in June, how was last week. Zip, nada, nothing whatsoever in the mercury. On Monday morning the windscreen wipers were making a weird noise as I cranked up the chariot to get to work.. As well they would if they were skating across ice! What happened to global warming? It would appear it has been snuffed out by the wicked southerly belting through in the last week or so. Thankfully the mercury got its act together late in the week, heading off protests from us refugees from down in the theoretically cooler south. I've had to make up a bit of ground on the home front this week. Last weeks race week activities were conducted under the protective cloak of Diplomatic Immunity, while details are sketchy, importantly no one got arrested. In lieu of the recovery process I snuck in a rugby related trip to Sydney. Mrs Spratty has had to endure delays for the debrief and rehab sessions to commence. Did I mention it’s a very timely ladies day at Rugby on Saturday. Needless to say productivity at the Ponderosa is at a pretty low ebb at the moment, even on a seasonally adjusted basis. I’m sure that will change over the coming weeks. Coinciding with the cracking of early morning frost during the week was the creaking and groaning from school students as they dusted off their intellects, alarms and those papery things called books and trundled off to continue their journey of academic enlightenment. Don’t they love it! Due to my little mission in Sydney I missed to trip to Mullumbimby last Saturday where we missed the chocolates in two tight tussles. No such problems for our all conquering First and U19 sides who continue to dominate their respective competitions. Today will be a big day for Grafton Rugby, firstly and most importantly it is ladies day. With a $10 tarriff deal for all you can eat and drink, the Wayne Magann corporate box will be made available for your comfort , there could be no better way to witness the men of Grafton strutting their stuff . On field we are hosting a very strong 4 team contingent from Wollongbar. The last time this season to see all senior sides in action, against a very strong club. The First grade fixture will be a beauty with both sides on song. On the work front...yes sadly there is a workfront, caravans, trailers and campers are arriving in good numbers providing plenty of variety and value for both new and used buyers. We have ensured we have plenty of complimentary towing vehicles in stock both at Spring Street and also at the Fitzroy street Automotive Megadome. More importantly we have many years of towing, caravanning and automotive experience on hand at both sites to answer any questions you may have on any aspect of motoring or caravanning. Finally don’t forget team McCaughy is available on Sundays at Mighty River in Fitzroy Street dispensing advice and commentary on an ever widening range of topics. Happy motoring, Spratty |
