SPRATTY SAYS 17-03-2007

The calendar really is flipping by, I decided to give the Golf Club a week off this week, a chance to complete the championships in peace,..but I will be back!

Last week saw Mrs Spratty and I head to Brisvegas for a Ford turnout, including the annual awards ceremony, the poor man’s Logies you might say. As usual Rob Connell scooped the pool, having to excuse himself from his lovely wife Lisa to gather an armful of trophies. Anyone who has done business with Rob will appreciate why he is held in such high regard.

I was talking mowing with other blokes from up north, as you do, and was humbled to learn that my weekly effort was only occasional compared to three times a week in North Queensland. Mrs Spratty enjoyed herself, rapidly becoming an expert on retail therapy Queensland style. We thought it could be our last Ford function when Mrs Spratty reminded the bloke I was annoying the most about Ford was actually the company President, he was a pretty good sport for an American I seem to recall.  It’s nice to get away, but home is definitely the best of destinations.

CC girl scorched her way through another week at warp speed. Punctuated by midweek late evening multiple pick up-drop off where everyone ended up at our place, it just didn’t seem right, but Mrs Spratty assured me that all was well as she settled me down and tucked me in.

The Big One also spent some time with us during the week, reminding us that parenting is an ongoing process…even after they are old enough to vote.

Thinking of voting, I’m thinking of starting ‘a build a new bridge party’. Is it just me or is the peak hour bridge traffic getting worse? Makes me a little homesick for Sydney. Seriously anyone with bridge building on their agenda gets my vote.

Footy starts this weekend today at 1pm at Rugby Park. A crack squad from Inverell are coming down for a pre-season four quarter joust. The Redmen miss a couple on representative duties, but should be highly competitive. Supporters gear will be available at the ground and there is also a fair bit of Wallaby and Redmen gear available here in the Mighty River sporting miniplex.  It should be a great kick off to the season so be early for a good spot!  ..oh and bring your boots you never know, you might get lucky!

Finally, Graham Mackay has really hit his straps in the Service Department, the place is running like a Swiss watch. If you need assistance with anything car or truck related drop in for a chat, there’s not much they can’t do.

Happy Motoring,

Spratty
