SPRATTY SAYS 29th March 2008
Over the back Fence with Spratty...
Daylight saving is on the way out, and the cricketers, oz-taggers and soccer players are slowly finding their way to footy training. The pre-season sporting hype is starting to crystallize into actual on field activity. In my case oscillating between the playing field, the coaching and support staff dependant upon the particular level of effort required..bit like my efforts at home really.
Meanwhile at the Ponderosa, CC girl's IT hub is almost at overload, starting to emit a low hum, along with the pale blue glow it really is the third dimension in there. With almost 500 unread emails at last glance and a similar number of close personal friends, its pretty friendly also.
I must give a wrap to the staff at Grafton Base Hospital. A week or so ago, while doing some last minute gardening, but just prior to putting me in the bath, Mrs Spratty had a dust up with a rather large Red-back spider. I think it was a territorial dispute over the occupation of a flower pot. Anyway the spider finished up in a jar and Mrs Spratty found herself in hospital. The folks there were fantastic as they parked us in a nice quiet corner, with a telly, waiting for venom related things to happen.
It was a slow process, but it did give me time observe the crap these poor buggers go through every day, tending the sick and wounded. My suggestions in relation to productivity and organisational behaviour appeared to be well received although when I started to compare Mrs Spratty's chart with my copious notes (yeah I've watched all the hospital shows!)..they gently suggested we go home and come back when Mrs Spratty was well.. nearly dead, and preferably by herself ..as they could see I was obviously a very busy man. Seriously we are blessed with some very dedicated people working in very ordinary conditions, who deserve much much better.
On the workfront the great Falcon Runout continues, with Rob Connell plucking bonuses and incentives from all over the place to create the best value packages I've seen in ages. Luckily Tom 'the Phantom' Freebody (the Ghost who walks) has returned from his Japanese sojourn to lend a hand, as along with some great new Hyundai products Fitzroy Street is buzzing.
A useful byproduct of all this activity, has been a stack of sensational trade-ins landing at Spring street. There are some new car alternatives with unbelievably low mileage as well as some great price range and family cars and 4wd's.
Finally if you don't believe our workshop can fix anything, stick your head in the door at Victoria street. We currently have a tractor, a bus, a Saab and a plethora of other weird and wonderful challenges on the go. Don't however wait for your car to turn into a challenge, get a service from around $100, as they say the piece of mind is priceless.
Happy motoring
Spratty
Ps car and caravan parts now open Saturdays 9 to 12 at Fitzroy street. |
