SPRATTY SAYS 31-03-2007

A change of season is definitely in the air, with a touch of chill hitting the valley this week. Not enough though to take the edge off what is a very pleasant time of the year. There is also a post election, business as usual feeling around town, congratulations to all participants for playing relatively nicely in the local political sandpit, it’s a shame they weren’t as decent to each other down South. In particular good luck to Mr Cansdell in his efforts to have the Clarence voice heard in Macquarie Street, I'd rather him than me. Just quietly, I'd start them off with a nice big map of regional NSW Steve!

On the home front I've pretty much avoided drifting into the direction of useful around the Ponderosa by careful use of the weather, righteous indignation when football is on TV as well as one of my all time favourites .. Ineptitude.

Ever the fashionista, I have noticed with the change of season an emerging fashion trend among the CC girl set. Yes, we can hail the return of the iconic flannelette shirt as a must have fashion item. I knew I wouldn’t have to wait long before my wardrobe would come back into fashion. Like motor cars, the new fashion cycles seem to be shrinking; you used to have to wait half a generation for your gear to come good. It means that I could probably be the trendiest bloke in Grafton, if I only knew what was at the back of my wardrobe.

The Mighty Redmen finally trooped the colours on Saturday with plenty of familiar faces making their first footballing foray for the season. Everybody got a run - even a few fringe third graders. All games were played in a terrific spirit with First grade looking typically strong, the lower grades looking better for some new faces but the under 19’s caught my eye with plenty of commitment and truckloads of talent. Playing well above their fighting weight the young guns killed them and are seriously well placed for a fabulous season. See you at Rugby Park this afternoon for more.

On the workfront the exports have been running overtime this week with customers from Mt Colah, Wagga, Bathurst, Coffs and the Gold Coast. Rob Connelll did a sweet contra deal with Paddington Chocolates in Sydney on a Transit van, we are all looking forward to a small dividend from that one. The ever enterprising Tom Freebody managed to turn a delivery to Toowoomba on Monday to a night at the footy at Carrara on Monday night..just happened to be in the area. Nice work Tom.

Finally if you haven’t been in for a while, our pre-owned collection is definitely worth a look. Lots of interesting trades as well as a few gems collected in our travels. There is certainly plenty of value and quality on offer at Mighty River at the moment.

Happy Motoring,

Spratty
