SPRATTY SAYS 12-05-2007

The Spratty’s have been in somewhat of a recovery mode this week after huge week. Firstly we had the Grafton Show, which was a huge success and on that wish to express our appreciation for the enormous support we received from the organisers, our crew and most importantly the hundreds of visitors to our stand.

In amongst the show on Saturday was a fantastic afternoon of Rugby, three wins achieved in fine style against quality opposition. You can certainly see the Redman machine clicking into gear, although I haven’t heard too many complaints about having the bye this weekend. The next game is away at Wollongbar, and the bus is definitely looking good for that one. Don’t forget the Ruck’n’ball, the Redmen’s annual fundraiser is on at the Services Club tonight. As a lot of planning goes into the night, there are no tickets at the door, so get in early for a good night out.

Also on Sport, out of the Hyundai Soccer world cup last year sprung a couple of Mighty River Hyundai soccer teams in town. The Grafton City Lions u9’s and the Mighty u10 Knights. Both of whom I am pleased to report were first up winners last weekend. Congratulations fellas for a great start to the season.

On the home front we discovered recently that CC girl had joined the school choir, we were also surprised to learn that the choir is going to New Zealand for a series of performances, in the very near future. Go figure. Whilst on the topic of progeny, the Big One has been a regular visitor to the Ponderosa lately, we were a little upbeat about the renewed level of attention until it was discovered we were simply a more convenient jump off spot for a new object of her affection.

There has been a bit of flack over ‘petitiongate’, in recent weeks stemming from the water debate. As I struggle across the bridge each day I see it as a daily reminder at how poorly the people of the Clarence are thought of, if at all, in the corridors of power down South. I cannot think of another sizable community would have its day to day activity and development impinged upon by an outdated and inappropriate bridge. Sadly it is hard to see the situation changing.

On the workfront, last Sunday was a huge success with a steady stream of people coming to Mighty River for a consultation with Chris McCaughy. So by public demand he will be on deck again tomorrow to talk finance, cars, fishing, grand kids or what ever you want. Although I can guarantee he will be still interested when the footy comes on.

Finally don’t forget to check our website www.mightyriver.com.au for specials, in particular Rob’s amazing deals on runout  4x4 Couriers. Also Tom’s  preloved Trinkets.

Happy Motoring,

Spratty
