Boy what a week! Firstly our first foray into the Grafton show was a huge success, and by the way what a great Show the organisers put on. I’ve been to plenty of country shows and the Grafton has got to be up there with the best. The Mighty River crew all pitched in and the response was fantastic, we are certainly looking forward to bigger and better things next year.
On top of the show we had a hugely successful rowing regatta with crews from all over Australia descending on Grafton, an extremely well run event in which all participants had a ball. Then there was the junior rugby selection competition, which my spies tell me, went off very well. In amongst all of that was the Rotary charity auction, my apologies for leaving a little early on that one but honestly Mrs Spratty and I were struggling to keep up over the weekend!
With Rob Connell in New Zealand this weekend with Hyundai, my attention is focussed on the real reason I didn’t go.. I have to confess.. I scored tickets to the World Cup Soccer in Germany through Hyundai, Mrs Spratty and I are seeing Australia play Japan at Frankfurt. As the major sponsor of the event they made 2 tickets available to every Hyundai dealer at a reasonable price and with some help from Travelscene in Grafton we used some frequent flyer points and put the thing together without breaking the bank. As a too much sport is not enough kind of person I can tell you I am pretty excited!
So while Rob is away I need to show him up, so come on in and see if we can put a deal together.
On the export front we have found homes for our cars in Dubbo, Tamworth, Armidale, Lennox Head and Tintenbar (is that near Lismore somewhere?). We have had to deploy Tony Flatley (again), to run a car to Sydney’s Holsworthy Army Barracks. He was pretty nervous about hitting the big smoke. She’s a long way from Casino (or as the locals say Cosina), no worries; he made it in style and brought home the trade in, a lovely little low mileage Holden Astra. In fact the lady was quite taken with Tony’s country charm, seems like we might have unearthed a bit of sales talent.
Finally a reminder from the guys in NRMA road service, check to ensure all doors are properly closed when parking for extended periods and keep a spare key to your car. Flat batteries and lockouts are on the rise, if your are unsure about the condition of your car battery call into Mighty River service in Victoria Street and have it and your door seals checked. Grafton we must stop meeting like this.
Happy motoring,
Spratty
