SPRATTY SAYS 20-05-2006

Mother’s day has come and gone, can you believe it? It was actually great to see such a huge amount of Mother’s day related activity around the valley last Sunday. We were out and about along the river and couldn’t believe the amount of folks enjoying a particularly nice day, and making Mum feel a little special in the process, well done!. While Mrs Spratty didn’t exactly suffer assault and battery with lethal levels of flowers and chocolates and such I know she enjoyed a bit more attention than normal. While most Mum’s I reckon would be pretty happy with that, because that’s the way mums are, I really do hope that’s the very least they got.

We also played tour guide to some visitors last weekend, and I must say it’s pretty easy to do a commercial on the Valley, in fact Mrs Spratty wants me to back off as she reckons we’ll be overrun with escapees from the big smoke. One feature I love to point out is the Mary Street Educational and Social Megaplex

On the home front we are breathing a little easier, as the big one looks like she’s settled away from home down in Coffs, not that she’s not welcome, it’s just that I’m getting used to a little more of everything as it’s now carved three ways instead of four. It’s funny, we get down to Coffs every now and then to see her, but we are more than happy when its time to head for home. It’s also good to be down to just the one teenage toxic wasteland in the Spratt Pleasuredome.

As for CC girl, last time I caught her at home she was beginning to resemble some kind of a Country and Western singer, it didn’t seem to take long at all, but more importantly not one teenage ego was hurt in the making of this transformation.

Exports continue to roll out, we’ve discovered where Golden Beach is, the brickie in Wagga got his new Ford Transit truck and boys have been to Brisbane, Taree and Port Macquarie. The story of the week involves Tony Flatley, the driest old bushie you ever met. The lady at Lennox Head he delivered a car to on Friday, sent me an email wanting to know if we could supply a cowboy with every car sold… And if we could, she could use a few more! I really am going to have to keep an eye on the dark horse from Casino.

Seriously though it’s great to know that these export customers are creating jobs and incomes in the valley and subsidising our capacity to offer better value and quality to Clarence Valley locals. I love it when a plan comes together!

Happy motoring,

Spratty
