SPRATTY SAYS 26-05-2007

There has certainly been a nip developing in the air over the past few days.. or should I say nights, as the days are nothing short of sensational. With State of Origin to keep us warm at night it’s not a bad time of the year. The twirling calendar reminds me that there is only about 6 weeks to Race week. Definitely time to start thinking about the new ‘do or a new frock?

On the home front I am planning a new strategy to recover my place in the food chain at the Ponderosa from the #$%^ cockatiel. Don’t want to give away too much at this stage; however Mrs Spratty reckons we are on a par when it comes to eating habits and hygiene, and the bird flies into things at about the same height as I usually make contact. I am a little easier to get on with at bedtime; I believe I have made a real effort in the tears and tantrums department (nb Mrs Spratty).

Also on the homefront, our hi tech passionfruit production facility is in full swing.  Although immersion has become pretty selective (I haven’t remembered to water for a while), I have taken over control of processing and ramped it up (they are pretty tasty!). I have also discovered that planning requires far less physical effort than actual gardening, you know the old measure twice cut once, accordingly I am going through an extended planning phase.

Missed the Redman game(s) in Wollongbar last Saturday. Special mention must go to third Grade, who went down fighting a long way from home. By all reports the day was a huge success for the Redmen, coming away with three valuable wins. The second grade win demonstrating the depth beginning to build at the club. The two games this afternoon should be beauties. The Yamba Buccaneers at home are always tough and tend to lift against the Redmen. Last year the two games were very close with Grafton scraping home on both occasions. I'm sure Yamba will be keener than ever, it will certainly be worth the drive.  The action starts at 1.30 for second grade. Under 19’s play in Lismore today.

On the workfront its been a busy week on the export front with customers from Nowra, Coolongoolook, Bella Vista, Narrabeen, St Mary’s and Tweed Heads all finding their new/used car in Grafton. The runout Courier 4x4 utes in particular have created plenty of interest, I don’t know where Rob Connell has been finding them but who cares? They are as cheap as chips and we are selling them all over the place. There are even a couple of diesels floating around.

Increased new car activity has generated some great trades, particularly hard to find used commercials. But be quick, they do sell.

Finally by popular demand Chris Mcaughy will continue to be available for automotive consultations on Sundays. He has a wealth of knowledge and is happy to shoot the breeze on most subjects; he’s pretty good on fishing just quietly.

Happy Motoring,

Spratty
