SPRATTY SAYS 10th November 2007
31 shopping days to Christmas, means pretty much nothing, just always wanted to say it. Can't be long to go though, Jacaranda has come and gone and I've almost recovered. It's a funny time of the year; some of our students have finished for the year, most are still at it, with the collective chorus of relief escalating then finally evaporating into the holidays proper. Bit like the weather really.
On the home front I finally ran out of excuses, OH&S, illness and injury, mechanical failure, ineptitude, absence and a few others that surprised even me, all used up. Must confess in recent weeks you could almost hear the grass grow. Despite me, Mrs Spratty has got the Ponderosa looking a treat, even the cows over the back fence were impressed.
After a lengthy discussion with my wise bovine friends, I've decided to desist from any further comment on the looming Federal Election. My data collection apparatus are all jammed with conflicting political effluent, the visitometer and promiseometers are wrecked from misuse. I just can't wait until it's over, the problem is that we have to go through this every three years.. And still no new bridge on the horizon.
On the workfront Graham Mackay, our Service Manager has taken the plunge and gone into business locally and we wish him well. Steve Mitchell a workmate of mine from Sydney has agreed to step into the breach, he is currently going through the seachange rite of passage, which is kind of funny to watch, but brings plenty of experience to both to Mighty River and Grafton, if you get a chance stop by and say gidday to Steve in our Victoria street service centre.
Also on the workfront, I actually sold a Caravan last weekend to a lovely couple from Mudgee, well actually they bought it and I was there, but still maybe there's hope for me yet. Seriously the 'Spring Street 7 days formula' is in serious danger of being a huge success, it seems that people like lots to check out and plenty of time to wander around the 130 odd caravans, campers, 4wd's, utes, vans, people movers..oh yeah, and cars on display.
One other thing, Ford are offering significant discounts to the family and relatives of Ford Dealers and Staff. The good news is the prices are sharp, the bad news is you have to own up to being related to someone like yours truly!
Finally things for the Connell household are looking up. Doing it pretty tough after presenting Robert with a sharp looking daughter, Leisa is on the mend and should be back to keeping Robert and the crew on track in no time at all.
Happy motoring.
