SPRATTY SAYS 6th October 2007

The Grand final in Sydney last weekend was the final chapter in our winter sport. ..Except for the World Cup Rugby, oh and anything else in the Northern Hemisphere, and Soccer now that is played locally in Summer. What they don't have in the Northern hemisphere is our weather, warm enough for
everybody!

On the Grand final, I must commend the Daily Examiner for putting on a terrific tipster's trip south. Most of us couldn't tip a sick kid off a stool, but we excelled in the travel and entertainment departments. It's
always fun to be a tourist in Sydney, especially a slightly irresponsible one, but home is definitely my favourite destination.

We called into see the Big One in Coffs on the way home. The retrieval process has commenced for the homemaker starter kit initially installed with her in her academic haven, a splash of affluence has rendered elements of the starter kit redundant. Returning to the shed to await its next encounter with teenage homemaking.

Coming up towards the end of the year, I was reminded of all the school concerts, eisteddfods, plays and other events I have sat through over the years, often assisted through the process by video cameras and other time killing devices. Entertained by all the primping, preening and posturing. the kids can be pretty entertaining also.

The Ponderosa, coming a distant second to the Grand Final activity, has been pretty unloved in recent weeks, although a positive OH&S report got the mower underway at least. I must confess to getting a little nervous on the home front as I've had a pretty good run, Mrs Spratty is getting that look in her eye, especially with more stuff in the shed, I might have to up the ante on ineptitude in the coming weeks.

On the workfront, Rob Connell is showing rare talent as a travel agent. As the volume of exports ramp up to places I'm sure he's never heard of. I know this because of the odd error of township juxta positioning. With respect, Orange and Wagga are a fair way apart, and you just cant 'slip' across to Sydney quickly by train. Oh and with respect, Cobar is not on the way to.. well anywhere.

Team McCaughey are recovering from a recent bad crash by their beloved Sea Eagles but have got our used cars at Spring Street looking great. Along with all the caravans and other toys Paul and Adam have collected there is now plenty to check out 7 days a week.

Finally with the warmer weather upon us, don't forget to call into Mighty River Service Department in Victoria Street to get the vitals checked on your car. The number of unplanned visits to Grafton is on the rise, with many travellers failing to conduct even basic checks on their car before heading off on a long trip.

Happy Motoring and Caravanning,

Spratty
