SPRATTY SAYS 20th October 2007

Mercury rising. Does it seem warmer this year? Might be just me. I've thought about wearing shorts but wouldn't be a good look having no visible means of support.

The usual collective sigh of relief was heard up and down the valley this week as our scholastic maestros got back into the hurley burley of academia. A reminder to you just what a great job teachers do keeping our young occupied for the better part of the day, and in a scholarly way. We were relieved to get the day right, but most importantly the outfit. I know it's just a uniform but apparently it's what you do with it.

I see we received a visit from erstwhile Oberstormfuhrer Howard who now matches budding Dear Leader, Comrade Rudd on the electorate Visitometer 1 all. More importantly he has opened the bidding at new hospital wing for $18 million, nice start, perhaps a deposit,  more substantial and tangible than Kevin's promise not to dam the Clarence (tributaries only), come on fellas you can do better than that!  Memo to Kevin - match the hospital and raise John a bridge.. And I'll think about putting your ugly mug in my front yard, sound fair? I'm sure we will all be watching the bidding and the Visitometer with interest in the coming weeks.

With Jacaranda just around the corner I've decided to delay my grand entry into the world of competitive gardening for another year. The passionfruit display is really enjoying an off season, recent plantings are struggling, new projects are behind schedule,  the weeds have a distinct upper hand at the moment and I've almost trained the lawn to mow itself.  I sense change is in the air though, Mrs Spratty is not as lenient with indolence as ineptitude, I can see myself playing the absence card a little over the coming months, there are fish to catch and I'm sure I have renewed my golf membership.

On the work front families from Wee Waa, Burrell Lake, Tingalpa (Queensland I think?) Nabiac, Caloundra and Orange found cars and caravans in Grafton this week. The boys have been pretty busy also supplying a few replacements to hail damaged units a little to the north. I have had to lean pretty heavily on a few mates down South but they have come up trumps for us, with some terrific stuff. Paul as usual has unearthed a number of absolute gems. So much so we are a little overstocked, call in to Spring Street this weekend as I have instructed Chris to clear the way for the incoming cars and commercials. No reasonable offer will be refused. Don't forget we are open 7 days a week at Spring Street.

Finally the fixed price services in our workshop are proving a huge hit, call in and find out how you can reduce your cars running costs.

Happy Motoring and Caravanning,

Spratty
