SPRATTY SAYS 21-10-2006
Well and truly into the warmer weather now, it seems like only a few sleeps to Christmas from here. A collective sigh of relief was felt across the valley earlier in the week with the return to school of our younger folk. It was a slightly eerie feeling as the average age around town this week skyrocketed as a result. Other useful byproducts of the return to school are the improved availability of the lounge and TV, access to the computer at home, some reduction in being treated as an Eftpos machine and a little more certainty as to the whereabouts of our little darlings during the day. We love them to bits, but wouldn’t trade places with school teachers for quids.
On the home front the tradesmen are hanging in there, mainly because I haven’t been around much, with plenty of progress being made. I love the way they laugh off potential and actual disaster and stick to the script despite the heat, the flies and owners like me.
CC girl appears to have ramped up the tempo in the Jacaranda program. I have pretty much lost touch, I think there is ball coming up or it could be a quiz night, I’m starting to get a little disoriented, a little fearful of turning up to the right event on the wrong night. Fortunately my women folk seem to have matters in hand, if they don’t they sure talk a good game. In fact Jacaranda is gathering momentum on a number of fronts, with the positive and productive work conducted by the Committee folks offset by some of the idiotic plans being hatched around town for Jacaranda’s ‘big day out’.
Part of assimilating into the Clarence Valley is to accept Brisbane is closer than Sydney in more ways than one. It’s funny but it happens, Mrs Spratty and I had a workrelated day or two in Brisvegas during the week, and we are starting to feel less like vacationers and more like commuters, but don’t worry I cant imagine our sporting loyalties straying across the border..or will they?
On the workfront, David Landenberger couldn’t resist the temptation to return to Telstra, they will find my fees for sales training very reasonable. Seriously with a growing family as a backdrop to a difficult decision, we wish Dave all the very best and greatly appreciate his not inconsiderable contribution here at Mighty River.
Finally Mighty River, as some of you may be aware; Mighty River has been awarded the Canterbury Clothing Franchise. Our first shipment of the latest in Wallaby gear has arrived and is on display at Fitzroy Street.. but be quick the good stuff will go first!
Happy motoring,
Spratty
