SPRATTY SAYS 27th October 2007Where oh where has the year gone! Jacarandas' in full bloom, the kids in to the final stretch of the academic year and despite my best endeavours, significant signs of life in my backyard. Most importantly this week our thoughts and prayers are with Rob and Leesa Connell. Leesa gave birth to a gorgeous little girl, who thankfully looks like her mother. Although the little one is fine Leesa is doing it a bit tough. Don’t know whether it’s the heat or the time of year but folks seem more laid back. Everything seems to drop a few notches on the anxiety meter. Even Mrs Spratty is letting a few erstwhile ‘issues’ whistle through to the keeper at the moment. Although from experience, she’s pretty good at keeping score. Not a lot doing on the sporting front, it was hard to get excited about the finale to the Rugby World cup. In fact at beer o’clock last Sunday Nana Dot and I held discussions with the cows over the back fence gaining from them a heightened level of insightful political commentary. There is no mistaking the electoral activity building steam, why do elections have to be so painful? From smiling heads appearing in shop fronts and front yards, advertising that ranges from the trite to the distasteful to statements that range from the bleeding obvious to jaw dropping outrageous. The Visitometer locally, shows the Government ahead by one, in a line ball decision, a visit by a State Minister failed to register points on the Election Visitometer. The Government’s promises lead, increased by $70,000, may not seem much in the grand scheme of things but the Meals on Wheels folks, I’m sure, wont knock it back. Come on Kevin, what about a bridge? On the workfront, Ford are currently launching a very smart looking Mondeo and a real sexy Focus Cabriolet, both of which will be arriving in the next few weeks. Falcon also goes into runout with a brand new car due in March, watch for some good buying from this family favourite. Hyundai have come up with a real winner in the new i30, with petrol variants selling like hot cakes, the very reasonably priced diesel variant will definitely be a winner. Down at Spring Street Sunday trading has been a huge hit for both caravans and used cars, allowing folks plenty of time to chew over their abundant range of options. We have had record sales results which means stacks of good locally sourced trade ins and most importantly plenty of variety that changes constantly. Check some of the deals on offer for New campers and caravans with Adam and Paul, you might be pleasantly surprised. Finally don’t forget to keep your car running as its maker intended. Call into Victoria Street and ask about our very reasonably priced fixed price service menus. Happy Motoring and Caravanning, Spratty |
