SPRATTY SAYS 8th September 2007
Ties are gone for another year, the warmer weather initiating a welcome gear change at Mighty River. Just quietly, muzzles and blinkers might not be a bad idea for some runners either! Weather wise it's been a bit like Melbourne..all four seasons at once, I notice Mrs Spratty with furrowed brow in front of the wardrobe this time of the year with an attack of the what to wear blues.
It's been so hectic here that I had to go to Sydney for a break last week. Haven't been down there for a while, my my what a heady cocktail of traffic, accents, smells and did I mention traffic? What is available down there though, is lots of cars and after looking at thousands, I managed to prise a few trinkets out of the big smoke. I think I'm on my last warning with Paul Winmill, He gave me two caravan related missions to accomplish while in Sydney, sadly I managed neither. With a little counselling and a lot of support I should be able to do better next time. Or else!
Happy Fathers day for all the Dad's last Sunday. Mrs Spratty and I were lucky enough to spend the day at a house, although not quite finished, is more homely than most, enjoying bucketfuls of Clarence hospitality. It was a great day.
On the football front congratulations to Dave Clay and the Redmen U19's for making the Grand Final today in Lismore. A terrific effort, for a group that had more than it's fair share of injuries and distractions during the season. Well done and Good luck boys!
First grade overcame a fast finishing Casino outfit in extra time to go through to their third consecutive Grand Final. Again a fitting reward for the effort Gary Powell and the crew have been putting in since January. While everyone came through without injury, although our rugby warriors were pretty bruised and knocked about, they will present the Coach with a couple of interesting strategic and positional selection conundrums. I guess that's why they pay him the big bucks!! Seriously good luck fellas, all of Grafton (...And even some folks downriver) will be watching you with an enormous sense of pride.
Finally on the workfront Chris McCaughey will be conducting his last Sunday session in Fitzroy Street tomorrow, with Team McCaughey moving to Spring Street, South Grafton the following week. From 10 September you will be able to check out over 100 Caravans, motor homes, campers, used cars, 4WD's and
commercials 7 days a week. Our new Fords and Hyundais will still be on display with Rob and Tom in Fitzroy Street for a few months yet.
Happy motoring,
Spratty |
